Self-Love - the Habits We Need for Learning to Love Ourselves.

Self-love is an essential component of a healthy lifestyle, and it's something that many of us struggle with. Whether we're dealing with body image issues, negative self-talk, or simply feeling overwhelmed by our daily lives, it can be hard to take care of ourselves in the way that we need. However, there are a few simple habits that we can all adopt to help us cultivate self-love and take better care of ourselves.

  1. Prioritize exercise: Regular exercise is one of the best things we can do for our physical and mental health. Not only does it help us maintain a healthy weight and reduce our risk of chronic diseases, but it also boosts our mood, reduces stress and promotes our mental health. Aim for at least 30 minutes of high intensity exercise and strength training per day. By signing up at your local CrossFit gym, this one is taken care of.

  2. Eat a healthy diet: The foods we put into our bodies have a huge impact on our physical and mental well-being. Eating a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins can help us feel more energized and reduce our risk of chronic diseases. Avoid processed foods and added sugars, which can contribute to inflammation and weight gain.

  3. Get enough sleep: Sleep is crucial for our physical and mental well-being. Aim to get 7-9 hours of sleep per night and try to establish a consistent sleep schedule. 

  4. Practice mindfulness: Mindfulness is the practice of being fully present in the moment, without judgment. It can help us reduce stress and improve our overall well-being. Try incorporating mindfulness practices such as meditation, yoga, or deep breathing into your daily routine, even if it is just 2 minutes in the morning and 2 minutes before bed. We use the simple but effective 4-7-8 breathing technique. Pair this with a cold shower in the morning and see how you feel. 

  5. Surround yourself with positive people: This may be the most critical of the five. The people we surround ourselves with can have a huge impact on our self-esteem and overall well-being. Make sure you surround yourself with people who love and support you, and who will encourage you to be your best self. If we get this one right, the other four should fall into place.
